2 color brioche in the round

2-color Brioche Stitch - Right side

In two-color brioche stitch, two rounds are
worked for every round that appears on
the face of the fabric. A brk or bark round
is first worked with the MC, then a brp or
burp round is worked with the CC.

Don’t cross your threads when changing
colors at the beginning of a round. At the
end of a MC round, your last stitch will be
a yf sl1yo, bring the MC thread to the front
after working the stitch and let it hang
there. Pick up the CC hanging at back and
work next round.

2 color brioche in the round

This 2-color Brioche Capelet was knit in the round for the book “Wrap Style” published by Interweave Press. It was knit from the top down. I simply switched MC and CC for the color change.

The last stitch at the end of a CC round will be a ‘burp’ stitch. Since the MC is
hanging to the front you should be able to maintain the MC yo to work this last
‘burp’ stitch. Then CC thread to the back, pick up MC and take it to the back to
work next round.

To make it easier to count the rounds, count the stitches in the dominant MC knit
columns as viewed from the right side. When my patterns say “16 rounds in knit
column,’’ you will actually have worked 32 rounds total, 16 with each color.

With MC and circular needle, cast on an even number of stitches. Do not turn
work, you are facing the RS. Slide work to other tip of needle.
Prep rnd with CC: wyif, *sl1yof, p1; rep from *.
Place marker (pm) onto needle or hang marker on first stitch. Now join for
working in the rnd, being careful not to twist sts.
