Prep Row 1 (WS): p2, *k1, p1, k2,
p4, k1, p2; rep from *, end with k1,
p1, k1, p2.

Prep Row 2 (RS): k2, yf sl1yo, *k1,
yf sl1yo, k2, yf sl1yo, k4, yf sl2yo;
rep from *, end with k1, yf sl1yo, k2.

Prep Row 3 (WS): p2, *brk1, p1,
brk2 under the one yo, p4, brk1, p2;
rep from *, end with brk1, p1, brk1,
p2.

Row 1 (RS): k2, yf sl1yo,* k1, yf sl1
pwise, dip down into yo in row below
of just worked st, slip it twisted (see
visual A for mount), yarn over both sts
to back, k1, ssk, k2, yf, go under bar
between the st just worked and foll st
and pick it up from behind (see visual
B), yarn over needle to back, k2,
yf sl2yo; rep from *, end with k1,
yf sl1, k2.

Row 2 (WS): p2, brk1, *p1, brssk, p2,
brk1, p4, brk2 (this is the newly-made
st and the slipped st under one yo);

in the Netherlands.
A friend of mine who is
a good enough knitter
to recognize this as a
brioche stitch variation
gave it to me.

The stitch is a bit tedious
in the beginning but
becomes workable after
a few repeats.
