brkyobrk you tube

To maintain the integrity of the brioche
stitch, increases should be worked in
pairs of stitches - adding one “yf sl1yo”
stitch and one “brk” stitch.

Designate a ‘column’ of knit stitches on
the right side (public side) of the work
for placement of the increase. This will

be referred to as the marked stitch or
marked column.

On the row following an increase
row, be sure to follow the brioche
pattern carefully over the new stitches
to maintain the pattern.

Simple Increase - brkyobrk
Two stitches spring out of the center of
one stitch (the marked stitch) with this
increase.

In the marked st: work a brkyobrk as
follows: brk1, yo (yarn forward under
needle then over needle to back), then
brk1 into same stitch. 2 sts inc’d.

These ‘simple increases’ were made 6 stitches in from side edges and worked every 4 RS rows.
The marked stitches were the 6th stitch from each side edge.

Another Method of 2-Stitch Increasing in One Row

Increases from row below
Increases can be made by working
into the stitch in the row below. Mark
a column of knit stitches on the RS of
the work for placement of the increase.

Left side edge/right-slant inc (inc’d
sts branch out to the right):
Work to
marked stitch on left needle, use right
needle tip to pick up the knit stitch from
the row below marked stitch and place
this lifted stitch onto left needle, knit this
lifted stitch, yarn to front under needle,
purl into the yarnover associated with
the marked stitch but leave yarnover on

left needle, yarn under needle to back,
knit the marked stitch together with its
yarnover — 2 stitches increased.

Right side edge/left-slant inc (inc’d
sts branch out to the left):
Work to
marked stitch and brk1, yarn to front
under needle, pick up the yo from the
just-worked st and purl (1 st inc), yarn
under needle to back, then use left
needle tip to pick up the knit stitch 1
row BELOW marked stitch on the right
needle (that’s 2 rows below the stitch
hanging on the right needle) and knit
this stitch — 2 stitches increased.

These ‘increases from row below’ were made 6 stitches in from side edges and worked every
5 RS rows. The marked stitches were the 6th stitch from each side edge.
