Crossing Brioche Stitches -
Making Diagonal Lines

This involves small crossovers that
may occur on top of one another,
next to one another or repeated and
increased to create parallel lines.
Worked on top of one another, they
make a small continuous cable.

Crossover from right to left
Row 1 (RS) Worked over 3 sts after
a yf sl1yo. Place first st onto a cable
needle to front, place foll st onto
second cable needle to back, brk1,
then work yf sl1yo on stitch from
second cable needle, then work brk1
on stitch from first cable needle, this
is a right to left crossover.
For a diagonal line from right to left:
Work Row 1 (RS) as above.
Rows 2 and 4 (WS) Work all sts in
brioche pattern.
Rows 3 (RS) Work all sts in brioche
pattern.
Rows 5 (RS) Work a right to left
crossover using the last st from
former crossover as the first st for
this crossover.
Repeat rows 2-5 as often as desired.

Crossover from left to right
Row 1 (RS) Worked over 3 sts after
a yf sl1yo. Place first 2 sts onto cable
needle to back of work, brk1, place the
first st (the brk st) from cable needle
onto left needle, then second st (the
yf sl1yo st) from cable needle to
lefthand needle, yf sl1yo, brk1.

Rows 2 and 4 (WS) Work all sts in
brioche pattern.
Rows 3 (RS) Work all sts in brioche
pattern.
Rows 5 (RS) Work a left to right
crossover starting 2 stitches before
former crossover.
Repeat rows 2-5 as often as desired.
