Finishing

If you want your garment to be
stretchy and elastic (this depends upon
the material used, of course) then
don’t block it. However, if you want the
piece relaxed then block it lightly.

Block the individual finished pieces
before they are sewn together by
using a damp cloth and steam iron.
Spread the damp cloth over the wrong
side of a piece and very gently touch
the iron to the damp cloth, creating
lots of steam. This will relax the yarn
and ease the piece into shape. Don’t
press down and flatten the knitting.

I use a chain crochet to put garments
together. I make long chains, often
working into every other stitch to avoid
making a bulky seam.

When putting together a garment
made in brioche stitch, it is best to
chain into a purl (on RS, knit on WS)
‘ditch’ for seams.
