4-row 2 stitch increase growing out
from left side of marked column:
First inc row RS: work in patt to
marked column st, work the marked
stitch, wyib pick up yo between just-
worked stitch and following stitch and
place it on right needle with beginning
of yarn mounted on front of needle like
visual A, cont in patt (yf sl1yo, brk1).
1 st inc’d.

Next row WS: work in pattern until the
new stitch, yf sl2yo - twisting the new
picked-up stitch when slipping so that it
lays like visual B, then slip second stitch
purlwise, cont in patt.

Second inc row RS: work in patt to
double yo sts, brk the first stitch (under
the double yarnover), slip it off left
needle together with its yarnover but
leave yarnover on second stitch as well,
yarn over top of needle from back to
front then under needle to back, brk
second stitch (it should be twisted when
you brk), cont in patt. 1 st inc’d.
Next row WS: work in patt, twist
knitting the new stitch like visual C.

For my sample, I worked one RS and one
WS row before repeating the increase rows. |
4-row 2 stitch increase growing out
from right side of marked column:
First inc row RS: work to one st before
marked column stitch, yf sl1 pwise,
leave yarn in front, pick up yo coming
from foll stitch (marked column st) and
place it on right needle with beginning
of yarn mounted on back of needle like
visual D, bring right needle to front of
foll st twisting the picked-up yo, insert
needle kwise into foll st, bring yarn over
needle to back and brk1, cont in patt
(yf sl1yo, brk1). 1st inc’d.

Next row WS: work in pattern to
marked stitch, work marked st, yf sl2yo
- slipping first st pwise and slipping the
new picked-up stitch so that it lays again
like visual D, cont in patt.
Second inc row RS: work in patt to
double yo, brk the new st under the
double yo twisted, slip it off left needle
with its yarnover but leave yarnover on
second stitch, yarn under needle from
back to front then over needle to back,
brk second stitch, cont in patt. 1 st inc’d.
Next row WS: work in patt, twist
knitting new stitch by knitting in back of
loop like visual E.
